Hobbyist Level:
  A specialized fish not suitable for beginners.

How Many?  Should be kept in groups.

Housing:  (Temperature- 75-85),  (pH 6.0-8.0), Needs salts in water, can tolerate up to brackish conditions.

Tank mates:  Large barbs, tetras gouramis, sharks, cats.

Feeding:  Piscivore- feed guppies and other small fish.

Natural Habitat:  North and Central America: Laguna San Julian, northeast of Ciudad Veracruz in Mexico to Costa Rica. Southern Gulf of Mexico, southern Yucatan and along Central American coast south to Nicaragua

Males and Females:  Males anal fin is pointy and called a gonopidium fin, females have a more triangular anal fin.
