These are popular varieties of aquarium cats. They are hardy, active, very peaceful.  Corydoras cats are members of the family Callichthyidae.  The fish in this family are covered by 2 rows of overlapping bony plates. They also have (like other catfish) a sharp spine on the first ray of the dorsal and pectoral fins. This protects them very well from most aquarium predators.  Corydoras cats like to swim in groups. They constantly search the gravel for food. Like other members of this family they will occasionally come to the surface for a gulp of air.

Tank mates:  Will mix well with most community fish.

Natural Habitat:  They are native to the Amazon river basin. Many cats are now bred in Florida.

Males and Females:  Although they are difficult to sex, if observed from directly above the female will appear fuller bodied. These fish are daylight feeders.

Color Varieties:  Each specie of Corydoras has its own unique pattern or color variation.
