General: 
These fish have many desirable characteristics.  They are pretty, mild mannered, and do well in groups.   They can be kept with similar sized gouramis, sharks, peaceful cichlids, and silver dollars.  Like other members of the geophagus genus they like to dig.  Adults can become very colorful.  You can keep them as singles or in groups.   Temperature 74-80.

Diet:  Like most cichlids they will accept a variety of foods such as cichlid pellets, cichlid flakes, frozen foods, and krill.  Feed young fish 2-3 times daily.  Adults can be fed 1-2 times a day.
