Texas Cichlid       (Cichlasoma cyanogutatum )

Grows to 12"

General: 
  They display vivid colors when in prime conditions.  Juveniles can be kept in groups, but adults are best as singles.  Adults are very territorial, they will defend their turf against newcomers- especially fish that are of similar body shape.  They are very tolerant of low temperatures.  Temperature 60-78,  They can be mixed with other similar size South American Cichlids such as Firemouth and Jack Dempsey Cichlids.

They come from Northern Mexico.

Diet:  Like most cichlids they will accept a variety of foods such as cichlid pellets, cichlid flakes, frozen foods, krill.  Feed young fish 2-3 times daily.  Adults can be fed 1-2 times a day.
