Six Barred Distichodus

 An interesting and colorful fish. Best suited for large tanks.

* Hobbyist Level: intermediate
* Adult Size: 24-30" Aquarium specimens usually do not get larger than 18"
* Housing: Adults require a large tank of 50 gal or more. They will eat plants, although they do not seem to eat Java Fern. Temp 75-80
* Tankmates: Mixes with fish of similar size. We have put them in tanks with active fish such as barbs, sharks, cats, larger gouramis. Do not mix with small fish.
* Feeding: In nature they eat insects, crustaceans and plants. Feed pellets with some greens. Also feed ghost shrimp.
* How Many: Small specimens are peaceful and will shoal together. Adults are best as one per tank.
* Scientific Name: Distichodus sexfasciatus
* Native Range: Africa
