Puffers
|
|
General: Puffers are interesting fish with lots of personality. They require a brackish water tank. Puffers can be fin nippers so the should not be mixed with small slow moving fish
Diet: In
nature they feed on snails and other invertebrates that they break open with
their sharp teeth. Feed bloodworms, krill, plankton, squid, live ghost
shrimp, and small snails..
Natural Habitat: Southeast Asia
Tank Mates: These fish are not
suitable for standard community tanks as they can be aggressive.
Never mix them with small peaceful fish such as guppies or neons as the will
attack them. A good way to keep them is small filtered aquariums (15
gal or more) by themselves or with another puffer. Possible tank
mates may include large mollies, bumble bee gobies, orange chromides and
rainbowfish.
Water conditions: They need clean water, but they do not like
strong currents. Add sea salt to the water to make the salinity
1.005-1,.008. Measure the salt content with a hydrometer.
